The LG Evaporator: a technical dossier
The evaporator coil absorbs heat from inside your LG fridge. A frosted or iced-up evaporator blocks airflow, so the freezer stays cold but the fridge compartment warms up — one of the most common LG faults we see.
- Fridge warm but freezer cold
- Ice build-up on the back wall
- Water leaking from the freezer
- Fridge temperature fluctuating
- Defrost heater not clearing ice
- Defrost the evaporator and inspect the coil
- Test the defrost heater, limit and sensor
- Check the defrost timer or main control board
- Verify the evaporator fan is running
- Regas if a leak is found in the coil
